Consumer interest in ethanol growing..Oregon

Recommended Posts

Annette Wetzel wasn’t so sure she wanted to be a guinea pig.

Her colleagues at Gresham Ford suggested several months ago that she use a truck with a flexible fuel engine that can run on a combination of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gas, just gasoline or any combination of the two. The goal was to gain insights into the new technology that could be passed onto the sales staff and customers....

.....But Wetzel, the dealership’s fleet manager, had some concerns. She worried about increased engine sludge and the long-term effects of using the so-called E85 mix. Mainly, the avid camper worried that her truck wouldn’t start in the middle of nowhere.

“I was very concerned about these things,” she said. “But I haven’t had any problems whatsoever.”
