Natural gas to ethanol and more

Recommended Posts

This sounds interesting and what would be really neat is if small scale setups could get methane from confinement livestock buildings.

“They can react with methane, ethane as well as propane at lower temperatures with extraordinarily selectivity—and produce the corresponding alcohols as the only the desired products.

the amount of natural gas that is flared off in North Dakota/Montana/Saskatchewan oil fields simply because their ability to pipe it out exceeds the amount produced...  THIS is where we really could make a difference energy wise.

I don't care if it is having small scale local natural gas liquafication (sp?) plants, to transport liquified natural gas out of the region, or if is natural gas to ethanol...  we need to be using this tremendous resource more, rather than simply burning off the excess.

Remember, at one time gasoline was flared off as waste from the kerosene refining process!
