GMC ..Can upgrade E10 vehicle to E85

Recommended Posts

Interesting.. I was adding the 2014 2.4 L GMC Terrain to E85Vehicles.com 2014 list http://e85vehicles.com/inventory/gmc-terrain-e85-flex-fuel-2014/

And came across this interesting tid bit in the specifications..

E10 fuel capable for 2.4L 4-cylinder engine

This efficient powerplant can run on a fuel mixture of 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline that is sold in many parts of the country. It may be upgraded to E851 FlexFuel capable with Federal emissions.

1 E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent regular gasoline. Go to www.gmc.com and search E85 for more information about E85 as an alternative fuel.

The interesting part is that that is for the NON Flex Fuel version of the Terrain !!

So all these engines in other vehicles  that GM, Ford etc made as E85 capable but never added (certified them) as E85 ready..  wonder if they are doing that as hedge with EPA regulations..

Do a recall ..bring your vehicle in and they will add/turn on  the flex fuel map
