Billyk24 16 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 Today I went to make a quick grocery run, and I noticed a Ford F150 in the parking lot. Out of curiosity, I drove by it to see if it was flex fuel. I turned around after passing it, and decided to leave an E85 flyer on the windshield. I also noticed an EcoBoost badge on the left side. I thought... "Wait a minute, wasn't this flex fuel? There aren't any flex fuel and EcoBoost ford vehicles. Sure enough, both badges are on the vehicle. I have to wonder how good that truck's fuel economy is on E85. I just wonder that if flex fuel and turbo--just how big of a boat or camper that puppy can haul ;D Up to 11,300 lbs with all the correct options, otherwise around a mere 9500 lbs. Wintermute 5 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 So.. I am a bit of a Ford fan boy, so this is really BIG news to me. If Ford is going to make their Ecoboost FFV capable, they are going to be back on my radar for my next trade in. I am betting this is just the 3.5V6 for now, but I bet we will see it in the other models very soon. Any idea what year this was? Because up to 2013, the EcoBoosts were not FFV. http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/engine/ They have a 3.7 V6, that is, but if it has a turbo, it doesn't swallow the alcohol. I would have thought Ford would have advertised this some as well, there's no mention of it anywhere that I can find.
gasisoutrageous 85 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 I had assumed it was 2014, but I couldn't say for sure.
Wintermute 5 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 I've looked all over the web trying to confirm this.. there's nothing about it. I'm going to have to inquire the next time I'm out at the Dealership, I almost have to see this with my own eyes to believe it.
BJoe 28 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 Did it have unusual plates by chance? Can't help but wonder if it's a prototype or a test vehicle owned by Ford but capable of leaving secured facilities since it's nothing special looking.
gasisoutrageous 85 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 Went back by there today, and the same truck was there. Took a couple pics and a video for proof. I've shared the video with BJoe. It stands to reason that I constantly see two or three Ford vehicles at a time getting off exit 94 on I-69 for Haslett, all in a row, all with manufacturer plates. There might be something around there I'm not aware of. It looks authentic to me. Wintermute, if you have a phone that can accept video messages, PM me your cell number, and I can send it to you. Wintermute 5 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 Well.. that's a Flex Fuel badge on the back for sure.. if you have a side pic of that same truck with Ecoboost on the side, you may have spotted the first of these for sure.. Plates are Michigan, Feb tags... so if it's a 2014, it's one of the first ones off the line I would think. It just doesn't strike me as a prototype... but since it's not a new body style, maybe they don't care about "masking it up".

gasisoutrageous 85 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 I was in a hurry, actually. This was in Okemos, and I had to get ready for work in Lansing not too long after. I'm assuming it is someone who works in that strip mall, so when I get some time, I'll look for them.
cessna 9 Report post Posted August 14, 2013 gasisoutrageous, I contacted someone that has friends at Ford and they aren't aware of Flex/EcoBoost. He wondered if you could come up with a picture of both EcoBoost/Flex in the same picture to show his Ford friends?
