2013 Chevy Impala gets better HWY miles on E85 than gas ?

Recommended Posts

I am going to assume this is a typo?

3.6L SIDI DOHC V6 VVT engine

Impala® is powered by the 3.6L direct-injected V6 Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engine. This powerhouse delivers 300 hp @ 6500 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque @ 5300 rpm. DI is Direct Injection, which helps deliver great fuel economy1 while improving vehicle performance. VVT works by optimizing combustion, enhancing low-end torque and high-end power while controlling emissions.

1 EPA-estimated MPG 18 city/30 highway for E85-capable version; EPA-estimated 18 city/29 highway for non-E85 version. E85 engines not available in California.  E85 is a combination of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Go to chevy.com/biofuels to see if there is an E85 fuel station near you.

OK this is more like it..

A direct fuel-injected 3.6-liter V6 is the sole engine choice for the 2013 Chevy Impala. This E85 compatible mill is matched with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, which is known as one of GM's best for its smooth shifts, quiet operation and ability to immediately select the proper gear for steep grades and aggressive lane changes.

3.6-liter V6

300 horsepower @ 6,500 rpm

262 lb-ft of torque @ 5,300 rpm

EPA city/highway fuel economy: 18/30 mpg (gasoline), 13/22 mpg (E85)

If it's a 6-speed instead of a 4- or 5-speed, that would make sense, wonder if they bumped the compression.  Does it say if they require premium when not running E-85 by chance?
