converting to biobutanol

Recommended Posts

I just read where four more ethanol plants signed on to the early adopters agreement with Butamax---I'm in two of them. Just got to thinking if everybody converts to butanol the oil companies won't get to make so much sub-octane gasoline that needs ethanol as a crutch. If everybody starts making butanol, that price should crash also. ???

The downside of butanol is that it's still crap gas for crap engines.  Fine if you want a relatively heavy, low power chunk of iron sucking down 'fuel'.  But overall, it's sort of trading a limestone wheel for one made of sandstone.

If we're ever going to have high power, light weight efficient engines, that is going to take better fuel.....ethanol....we want steel belted radials!
