Johnny you have a Kit for the Prius C (53 MPG)

Recommended Posts

Corey the problem you were having is probably limited to the Insight. Honda has had a couple lawsuits over issues with the Insight.

The first gen Prius has been run stock on E85 as previously mentioned, and it even made more power. I would bet the newer one would do the same.

That is understood - the only point I'm trying to make is that running an engine on E85 (kit or not) does not necessarily equate to keeping the entire hybrid drive happy as a system.  We never set a CEL or other warning light on the Insight either, though the system as a whole was obviously very unhappy about the change

There is no evidence that statement applies to the Ford Escape Hybrid system.  The Escape Hybrid like the Prius is a different system with hardware and software differences.  There is poster on this site who has used E85 in his Hybrid system for three (3) years now and has not indicated issues.  I have a month without any issues.

I would agree with your thought Dan... rent one for a week... try strait e85... see how it works... try a kit (4 cylinder should be simple as pie to install...) see how that works...  try it on strait dino-fuel... see how THAT works (simply for baseline data...)

Make your decision based on your personal experimental experience.
