Performance Chips??

Recommended Posts

I've seen many products that are suppose to increase HP and efficiency... most sound like hoaxes...

have any of you used these type of products, or had any experiences with them?

Would any of these products help to maximize the efficiency on e85 as opposed to standard "dino-fuel"?

How Does the X3 Module Work?

X3 modifies the signals to your vehicle's ECU. X3 adjusts the air/fuel ratio to a perfect balance and then adjusts the secondarily timing curves to new performance settings.  In addition, our X3 units have an Oxygen Sensor control circuit integrated so that it can automatically control the power output you are looking for!

Benefits of the X3 Module

o Increases engine output up to 20%.

o Enhances horsepower, throttle response, acceleration and torque.

o Provides up to a 15% increase in fuel economy.

          o Performance level setting from 0 - 100 %.

o Automatically adjusts to provide you with maximum horsepower or maximum efficiency.

Alot of the chips out there simply modify the fuel/air ratio, or cause the injectors to simply stay open longer.  In many cases, the ECM will go into learning mode and simply continue resetting parameters until the whatever change the chip has caused is undone.  Or in a worse case scenario, the ECM will go into default mode and set a check engine light because it can't reset the parameters to get what it considers a correct result.

A programmer in which you can set individual parameters is going to be what you need.

    * Optimizes ignition advance and fuel maps for optimum horsepower and drivability

    * Designed for the performance enthusiast who wants improved performance, acceleration and the ability to monitor vehicle information

    * Allows the user to select from 14 different screens to monitor throttle position, mass air flow, manifold pressure, fuel economy and air/fuel ratio

Awesome!  this sounds like what is needed... though I don't think putting $250 into my 12 year old car with 140k miles on it would pass the one person "budget oversight committee" in my household! ::)

I've already been pushing my "off the books cash savings" slush fund to it's max.  I've been putting money away when ever I come across a few bucks, to continually purchase silver for my children.  Savings accounts and CDs hardly cover the rate of inflation... so they end up with less then they started with in actual money... purchasing precious metals has been pretty good.  They will never be worthless, and have been increasing in value, unlike the US$... :-[

Well, back to the point...

Would such a kit be specific to an engine/car?  Would you be able to take one kit, maybe add a different harness/adapter and put in on your next vehicle if you end up switching cars?
