Wiki Leaks

Recommended Posts

I think this is import enough even upon the rant and rave section.

We should not,IMHO, be accrediting to much to Wiki leaks. This guy was on NPR claiming the moral high ground for sacrificing our nations security as a noble peace initiative. This is the Neville Chamberlain peace at all cost argument in which the defenders are the aggressors as they stand up.  Historically, more lives lost because of pacifism  than strong military respect and protection.

Having said that, the activities of State Department to negotiate within the corrupt world we have inherited is still a power of good. A power that can move counties to better low confrontation solutions. Sure, they have to deal with tyrants, evil, and corrupt dictators and may utilize some smelly solutions, but this the work accomplished in the dark and best if only our elected officials empowered with the task to do whats best for country. The country is set up with safe guards and oversight to ensure the process doesn't go off a cliff, but this info and judgement requires max discretion, max info, and a decision.

Wiki leaks is acting, basically, as terrorist activity. This is the new attack invention of those that want to harm us. They use/exploit our open democratic government of fairness and communication against us. The enemy within scenario generating political internal anger with resulting poor solutions or 1,000 points of legal concerns to our sympathies, and the 1,000 points of security concerns to our fears with demands of costly solutions. Basically, use the Constitution against us.  Our Freedoms valuable and should be utilized within the most important concerns. Currently every little issue runs through the courts.  Our public money trough is drying up quickly upon wasteful expenses.

Especially upon the CIC section of government does the smelly work get done to compromise for sake of country. This info is sensitive as if the public sector wholesale get to digest per politically machinery, we do all suffer. Some years down the road the story will get told when all the data and actual outcomes become apparent, whether a mistake or brilliance. All to often nowadays with electronic communication in the hands of shrewd political operatives who care not only of their popularity operate in effect to sabotage this process. Not good. This is one area a tyrant can have maximum effectiveness to operate.  A disadvantage to democracy as citizens historically haven't been up to the task to responsible decimate info.

China for instance may never be a threat to our country and may be a force for good? They are a work in process. Should we reach out to N Korea and try to change them.....maybe but only behind the darkness. Our country did know oil for terrorist activity going on. How to handle that? What was the time frame for such developing problem or is the problem currently deflating. Same for drug cartels. Corruption in Afghanistan....do we throw are arms up and walk or work one step at a time to improve? How to handle Iran that has good players, positive aspects, as well as troubling rhetoric. Wiki leaks isn't cool and truth sayers. They are just self imposed self righteous terrorist doing us harm.  They use the freedom of press and internet to do us harm.  If we continue to abuse our freedoms we lose.

The press seems to love this guy- he gives them fodder to keep audiences because of the nature to want to "peek" where we do not need to. Press seems to assume our govt is evel and needs to have a completely open channel for them to look over the shoulder. Personally I feel we do not need to see what the govt is doing in back channels. While our govt is at fault for such sloppy security-- Julian is nothing more than a prideful bigheaded fool who thinks he is above any country's laws. He should spend the rest of his days where no internet is available IMO. One would argue that had he and the internet been around in the days of "the gulf of Tonkin" we would never have been in "the Nam" but I say the deal would have already been done by Johnson and we would have been there anyway. One could say the he would have exposed that "Uncle HO" had begged the US to back him even before (as writers later claimed) but would that have really been where we wanted to be either? Point is most of this that is "leaked" is too late or something we knew already and did not have to be said. Will WIKI next show us leaked papers of how to create backyard dirty bombs, chemical or biological weapons or such?
