If 89 Octane was Mandated (on a National level) the auto manufacturers could up the compression and give us better fuel economy.  Of course, the oil companies would hate that.  The Pricks.

I am in Central Wisconsin Furball.

 

Dan- do you know how Minnesota makes their E10? One way is to use conventional 87 octane NL and just add 10% ethanol and post it both as 87 octane and 89 octane. Often though, where everyone offers E10- oil companies will use suboctane 85 to make 87.

 

I'll have to go look ..last I recall we simply add the 10% and it's labeled 87  ..which is interesting come to think about it because in Iowa ..the 89 Octane is the E10 and it's usually 10 cents a gallon cheaper
