Fuel composition sensor used on Ford FFV's

Recommended Posts

I found the Ford part number for the Siemens dielectric constant sensor used in the gas line of the older FFV's. When I went to biodiesel school they said the same sensor could be used to sense biodiesel %. The number is YL5A-9C044-AA.

I found this information:  Ford has eliminated the FF sensor on the Taurus for model years 2000 and newer, and only uses fuel trims and O2 activity to calculate alcohol content.

from here:  http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/dec2004/techtips.htm

The individual making this statement has been in the automobile mechanic for 30 plus years, has ASE master certification.

I still would like to find a piece of hardware that can visually display the ethanol composition of your fuel.  After several hours of searching,  :( I'm not sure something like this currently exists.
