Yep, this is all over the place here (well, the stations I mentioned). I simply hate it, it is annoying, right in line with the speaker playing commercials.

DANxxx, great idea, I will try "no" next time, just to see what is happening. Maybe I can still pump, maybe someone does a secret investigation of how many non-FFV's are using E-85?

Mine arent flex fuel, they are straight up ethanol and some wont run very long or well on pump gas. So no, I do not own a FFV, but I will use as much E85 as I want.

If they disallow you to fill up then perhaps they really dont want to sell fuel.
Not knocking E85, but I don't need any gasoline. Thanks. Home grown ethanol works fine for me.

Hey BigGreen.. next time you come across one of those answer the question with "No"..see if it still allows you to pump E85 ..

Just interesting to see if they allow it or not..see if they allow you to accept liability or not

That's new to me, haven't seen it yet at the local stations I've been to or the one I filled up at in  Plymouth, WI.

If I ever see that, the answer is "Yes, I converted it myself."  ;D

Agreed with James.  It's just there for the idiots so they don't screw up.

They just are trying to avoid the lawsuits when someone fills with E85 in a non-flex and says they didn't know it was E85.    Every once in a while you read about some idiot who does that, then some mechanic charges him/her thousands of dollars for their "ruined" car.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Pump questioning your vehicle.
« Reply #1 on: August 17, 2012, 05:51:56 AM »
I did a lot, I mean, a lot of driving in the last month, and discovered something new.

Most times I am filling up (E85, what else), the pumps now ask me (the display displays it of course  ;D) whether I have a Flex Fuel vehicle or not. This has to be answered with either the 'Yes' or 'No' button, or like in Speedway's case, one of the four buttons on the right of their display. But there is no arrow nor indication (it is the 2nd button from the top). Speedway says they are still working on their software.

I experienced this "questionnaire" at Speedway, Petro and Pilot so far.

Anybody else noticed this? Boy, considering that the sticker on the pump often says that it is illegal to use E85 in other than FlexFuel vehicles, now that we have to confirm it, will we face some (stupid) legal action???
