Dave Blume and IIEA will be addressing the EPA, E15, E85 conversions, etc. next week:

International Institute for Ecological Agriculture (IIEA) News Alert 3/14/10

1. TUESDAY 3/23: Tune in to watch Live TV on the Web with Daryl Hannah – March 23, 6 pm PT

I will be joining actress/activist Daryl Hannah and other key guests Tuesday, 3/23 for a one-hour live television broadcast of EcoReview. The topic is The Greening of the Auto Industry: from Paint to Fuel. We will discuss the green restoration of Daryl's ’79 Pontiac Trans-Am that was featured in the “Kill BiIl” movie series and its conversion to alcohol fuel with host Tom Harvey. Our program panel will discuss how alcohol fuel is being produced and used around the world for heating, cooking, and transportation, as well as highlights of our recent California certified smog station test that compared unleaded gas emissions to those of E-10, E-15 and E-85 alcohol fuel blends. Panel members include: Dave Stoltz  (Pacific Flyer Engineering, master mechanic and alcohol fuel conversion expert) and Karl Ryan  (Professional Touch, the San Francisco Bay Area's premier eco-correct auto body shop). The EcoReview broadcasts on Santa Cruz (California) cable access channels 27 and 73 and streams in real time at 6:00pm Tuesday nights and 11:00pm Fridays and this program will re-air until April 27 at http://www.communitytv.org/ctv3. Call in with your question or comments, at 831-425-8844.

2. Wednesday 3/24: News event with Daryl Hannah – 2:30 pm PT (Sacramento locals, please join us!)

Wednesday the 24th, Daryl and I will hold a press briefing in Sacramento, CA. In this important call to action, we will be presenting evidence that the Environmental Protection Agency says it lacks to establish a ruling that would allow states to mandate an increase in the maximum alcohol fuel blend from 10 to 15% nationwide. The EPA says it can’t find data to substantiate the benefits of using E-15 and higher blends of ethanol as a gas additive. We will present the emissions results of our recent California certified smog test, using Daryl’s 1979 “Kill Bill” Trans-Am, which we converted to ethanol last fall. Our purpose is to send a clear message to the EPA that alcohol fuel is absolutely good for the environment, for our engines, and for our lungs! Our testing included unleaded gas, E-10, E-15, and E-85 fuel blends, and the results show unequivocally that there is no reason to delay ruling in favor of increasing alcohol as a blended additive to reduce toxic emissions currently generated by burning gasoline.

The event is being hosted at Sacramento’s “Flyer” E-85 fuel station. Daryl and I will cover the EPA’s delayed ruling for E-15, the emission results of IIEA's smog testing, President Obama's renewable fuels message, and the DOE's recent U.S. energy policy announcement (very favorable for ethanol). We will also present some of the many ways that alcohol fuel effectively solves pressing health, environmental, and economic issues. Dave Stoltz of Pacific Flyer Engineering, the master mechanic for the Trans Am car conversion project, will join us.

PLEASE JOIN US! If you live in or near Sacramento, please stop by and support the effort to send this important message to the EPA!

LOCATION: 4250 John Madison Avenue, Sacramento California.

TIME: The one-hour presentation and broadcast will begin at 2:30 pm.

LIVE ONLINE VIDEO FEED:
We will send out another announcement early in the week with a link to the live online streaming video of this event. We will also post the link on our HOME PAGE as soon as it is available.

The events made it into the biofuels news today:

http://domesticfuel.com/2010/03/16/actress-daryl-hannah-speaks-out-for-ethanol-blends/

"On Tuesday, March 23, 2010 Hannah’s ‘79 Pontiac Trans-Am, that was featured in the movie “Kill Bill,” will be featured in the TV show EcoReview."

"The show will take viewers though how alcohol fuel is produced and used around the world for transportation, cooking and heating. In addition, the program will highlight a new California certified smog station test that recently compared unleaded gas emissions to those of E10, E15 and E85. For those unable to get the show, you can watch it here."

http://www.communitytv.org/ctv3

"Hannah’s next appearance will be during a press conference in Sacramento on March 24, 2010 to promote the E15 waiver. She along with David Blume, author of Alcohol Can Be a Gas, will present the Environmental Protection Agency with more research to substantiate the benefits of using E15 and higher blends of ethanol as a gas additive – information the EPA claims is lacking. The research presented will include the “Kill Bill” Trans-Am which was converted to run on ethanol last year and tested using the California certified smog test for E10, E15 and E85. The test shows that all blends not only meet but exceed the standards set out in the Clean Air Act."

"For those that are interested but can’t make the event, it will be streamed live here."

http://biofuelsdigest.com/bdigest/2010/03/16/actressactivist-daryl-hannah-iiea-team-for-california-ethanol-emissions-event/

"Among scheduled events, an update regarding the scheduled IIEA press conference with biofuels activist Daryl Hannah — the IIEA will present results of a California certified smog test just conducted with unleaded gas emissions compared to E-10, E-15, and E-85, in Daryl Hannah’s ’79 “Kill Bill” Trans-Am. “Our findings put to rest common questions such as: Can older cars run ethanol? Which fuel is cleaner? and Is ethanol better for our air?”

IIEA exec director David Blume said."

Tuesday's even will be aired.

It's quite possible that Wednesday's event will be filmed and then a DVD available.

There's a DVD available of last fall's conversion of Ed Begley's Prius and Daryl Hannah's TA to ethanol.  Also, a small motorcycle and furnace running on ethanol.  Not sure if they will have this new event live on the web like last fall's.
