Hudson E85 causing starting problems.

Well the latest cold snap has rolled around... and the '06 F150 FFV didn't start right away.  I would turn the key, and it would cough, stumble, die.  It did that about 5 times before it would stay running long enough I could hold it at 2000rpm for a few minutes so it would run.  This is behavior I would expect from my old Explorer conversion, not a relatively new factory FFV!

I had this problem last winter with E85 from the Hudson, IA station.  Fuel from the Kwik Star over in Parkersburg doesn't cause that problem.

I suspect they haven't blended their fuel down from full E85 to E75 or whatever the fall blend is yet.  The price has stayed fixed at $1.87 for quite a while now.

I don't want to complain too loudly, or they might just pull their E85 out and not sell it anymore.  They do need to be informed though.  What should I tell them?

First- don't tell. Ask if the fuel has transitioned over to fall yet. Ask when they got their last load. Then tell ! This year has been difficult to know if it should be E78 or if it should be transitioning towards E70. They need to know it is making a difference in your car. * E85 Pump Install Credits -Federal

Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit A tax credit is available for the cost of installing alternative fueling equipment placed into service after December 31, 2005. < /br>Qualified alternative fuels are natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, hydrogen, electricity, E85, or diesel fuel blends containing a minimum of 20% biodiesel. < /br>The credit amount is up to 30% of the cost, not to exceed $30,000, for equipment placed into service before January 1, 2009. The credit amount is up to 50% not to exceed $50,000, for equipment placed into service on or after January 1, 2009.

Fueling station owners who install qualified equipment at multiple sites are allowed to use the credit towards each location. Consumers who purchase residential fueling equipment may receive a tax credit of up to $1,000, which increases to $2,000 for equipment placed into service after December 31, 2008. The maximum credit amount for hydrogen fueling equipment placed into service after December 31, 2008, and before January 1, 2015, is $200,000. The credit expires December 31, 2010, for all other eligible fuel types. Unused credits that qualify as general business tax credits, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), may be carried backward one year and carried forward 20 years.
