Help with Fire Marshall ..wont allow E85 Station

<< < (4/4)

Wilcox and Flegel:
It's an issue for a lot of fire marshals around the country. Most State Fire Codes have adapted the 2006 IFC which in section 2206.7 specifies that fueling equipment has to be approved by an approved laboratory, such as the Underwriters Laboratory (UL). The problem is that once E85 started catching on the UL came out and said that they had not gotten the chance to approve any pumps. This now means that since approval is pending with no estimated completion date, most fire marshals are reluctant to allow installation of new pumps.

I'm not sure what Mike's issues are exactly but our representative from the Clean Cities Coalition met with Mike and said that he didn't seem to want to give a variance due to the lack of UL approval.

I'm hoping people can email Mike and just express their support for E85 in Washington, which I'm hoping will help.

W&F I accidentally deleted your thread trying to merge threads :-[     Here is your main post though ..  Can you post exactly what issues the fire Marshall is having please ..

Fire Marshal approval is the main roadblock we are facing in our E85 expansion effort in Washington. Section 2206.7of the 2006 International Fire Code specifies that all fueling equipment must be approved by an approved testing laboratory, such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The UL is currently testing pumps but has not released an estimated approval date. E85 is currently available in all 50 states and we have been successful in adding 7 pumps in Washington State through variance letters from local Fire Marshals. We have requested a blank variance letter from the State Fire Marshal Mike Matlick and are looking for supporters to also draft letters to Mike in support of a variance letter for dispensing E85.

All letters to the State Fire Marshal, Mike Matlick, can be emailed to firemarsh@wsp.wa.gov or mailed to: PO Box 42600, Olympia, WA 98504-2600.

Please help and send this information to everyone you can think of!
