They had their grand opening and had e85 for 85 cents

Eighty-four-year-old Alva Thompson plunged the corn-yellow pump handle into his flex-fuel car and filled up with 85-cent-per-gallon fuel Wednesday morning.

Thompson fueled up as Western Convenience and Gov. Bill Ritter?s Biofuels Coalition celebrated the grand opening of the company?s E85 pumps at 2998 North Ave.

E85 is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. The store sold the fuel for 85 cents a gallon for two hours before charging the normal $2.69 a gallon.

That was still nearly a buck a gallon less than regular unleaded gasoline for sale there.
