That is pretty typical, for some reason E85 pulls load better than gasoline will, and is one of the reasons you get better fuel mileage than you would expect just looking at fuel BTU content.

Sorry Guys- I thought everyone had seen this monster called Kudzu that is like Jack's beanstalk. My cousin lives in the far NE tip of Tennesee near Kingston. Interesting and I am hopeful yet a bit doubtful- to get 7.5 lbs of ethanol from 10-11 lbs of kudzu sounds like a bit of hype for financing.

A Costka cellulose plant is under construction in Southwestern Pa.  It will supply GM with C85 fuel and also operate as a demonstration plant for other interested in the technology.

Its funny that we don't see a Plant in NJ.  Are they to dependant on the Oil refining operations?  Refineries, Port Fees for the tankers that drop off the Crude oil, I'm not sure what else but I'm sure the state gets some pretty nice taxes from all of that.

What about PA?  Are they still digging in the dirt for Coal?

I moved to the Breckenridge, CO area and now have a station at least somewhat close (at least closer than Denver) in Idaho Springs, CO. I didn't see it on the list of CO E85 so I thought I'd post it! Info:

Cool! I can go to the mountains and fill up on the way home, or on the way out of town!

I believe there is something undermining success because with oil at $140+ and gas around $4 we should have a ripe market for E85 and a higher demand for FFVs.

I agree and am inclined to think it is simple ignorance on the part of the general public (the media has made absolutely zero effort to put out the facts on E85)....

WSJ and other commentary today seemed to think that the speculation around oil is getting a little weary of the heat.  WSJ even mentioned the term 'topped'. Saudis are going to lower prices. Even thinking that investment in Barnett Shale has peaked.

Commodities are down, banks are down and the Dow is down.  Kind of odd altogether.  Commo...

xx Cost for a Station to convert to E85
Yesterday at 09:57:29 PM by James48843
Here is a document that outlines the cost for a gasoline station to convert to selling E85.

If they simply choose to convert an existing tank, the costs are relatively low.  Everyone sells premium. But what if YOU'RE a station owner, and want to bring customers to your station?  How about forgetting the premium, and selling E85 instead?...

xx Re: Subaru Materials Degradation
Yesterday at 05:18:10 PM by hotrod
They just wear out faster and have slight corrosion issues, so the expectation is that they will fail more or less normally at slightly earlier point in time. Stock pumps last for upwards of 150,000-200,000 miles, the walbro's in E85 usage have already see in excess of 40,000 miles on some cars. Even if they all fail at 50,000 miles it is no big de...

xx Re: Subaru Materials Degradation
Yesterday at 10:50:38 AM by ngnetzky
hotrod, thanks for your answer.

If there were to be issues with the fuel pump on e85, what would be the most likely cause? The lack of lubrication? Or, the overworking of the fuel pump? Because from my little research on this subject, I've heard people bring up both points on why a fuel pump might fail on e85.

xx Re: Subaru Materials Degradation
Yesterday at 02:44:57 AM by Gran Touring Labs
Fact of note: My new Walbro makes NO noise like my old Walbro. The older models had a whine to them that got worse as they got older. A lot of 255s did it, too. What changed? You could hear them internally over any exhaust at idle but mine is about factory quiet. Larry knows that Walbro whine also, that's why I mention it.

From following Dan's news, the country has added 400 more fueling stations so far this year with another 400 under construction to finish the year for a total of 800 additions. Looks like the blender pump rollout continues

With rising fuel prices, flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs) and E85 have become even more popular. Those who use E85 like the lower price verses regular gasoline; however, some experience a decrease in fuel economy. In order to give FFV owners choices that may be more economical for their vehicle,...

This fall, the Chippewa Valley Ethanol Co. will go in search of the humble corncob. A $150,000 state grant will help the central Minnesota farmers' cooperative test two collection systems to gather the small, scratchy harvest remnant: one that rides piggyback on a combine and one that follows behind.

Running lean only helps with power if it was running richer than the ratio at which it makes max power, which is richer than stoichiometric.  So if you gained power after putting a little more ethanol in it, either:

1. It was set up too rich to begin with, or
2. it's all in your head, or
3. it was pinging before and now it isn'...
