New Ethanol Plant Coming to Ohio
CORUNNA Ohio - A Washington state company plans to build a $150-million
ethanol plant on Parmenter Road, creating up to 50 jobs and providing a new
market for local growers.
Ohio produces more than 4 Million barrels of Ethanol a year .
June
15 2006 Ohio Governor Bob Taft today joined with seven other Midwest
governors to support the states' application to receive federal funds to
increase the availability of ethanol in the Midwest. In a letter to Department
of Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman, Taft expressed his support for the states'
Midwest E85 Corridor Program and reiterated his commitment to ongoing state
efforts to better utilize Ohio's natural resources as renewable energy sources.
If funded, the grant will help develop E85 retail sites within two miles of
interstate highways in Ohio and seven other Midwestern states.
This corridor project will make use of Ohio's extraordinary agricultural
assets to help diversify our transportation fuel supply and will give Ohio
farmers another outlet for their products in the State of Ohio."
This project will increase the number of E85 retail stations available to the
drivers of Flex-fuel Vehicles (FFVs) in Ohio and across the connecting
interstate corridors. The Upper Midwest Corridor program combines the efforts of
E85 programs in eight participating states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri,
Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.
